No, unless it is something really acidic that is cooked a long time. For instance I wouldn't simmer marinara in one, but I do bake chickens, roast veggies, and fry anything in one.

I use iron skillets at least once per day.

Iron skillets retain heat really well.

If you heat up a thin skillet then put food in it the food will lower the temperature of the cooking surface. When you heat up a cast iron can it stays hot even if you put a big chunk of meat in it.

Cast iron pans are great for browning food and because of that food definitely tastes different. I bought my first cast iron pan after using one in a cabin to fry potatoes. They come out a great golden brown color.

Cast iron is porus and as such it retains some of the flavor of what has been cooked in the skillet. No it won't change the taste of your food in a noticeable way, but it will impart a different character to your dish than using a new nonstick pan.

I think it does...my cast iron skillet has been used so much it's held on to flavors of things I've previously cooked on it. It gives my food that sais quoi.

The main difference is that a cast iron skillet hold heat meaning you don't have to cook foods on higher temps.

Yep. It makes everything taste like bacon.
