Melon Question.?!

Question:

Melon Question.?

How do you tell when a Honey Dew Melon is ready to eat.

Answers:
give it a sniff near the end where it was attached to the vine...it it smells fruity and yummy it's good to go also give it a little squeeze, it it gives a little dig in but if it is really hard probably not ready yet

yo,
u punch it!!

A perfectly ripe honeydew will yield just a bit to pressure at the blossom end and have a sticky, velvety rind. look for color of the rind to be white to yellowy not green. and still if picked at the wrong time it may never ripen to have best texture and flavor

The flower end, not stem end, should be slightly soft when you press. Same for all melons.

check the end of the melon opposite where the stem attaches, It should be soft but not mushy and should smell like a melon.

Thump it when you pick it up. It should sound hollow and give slightly to pressure on the blossom end.

you squeeze it!!!! cut it open, take out the seeds, and then it's ready to eat. ha ha ha

honeydew melon = honey dew melon
These large, choice melons have either green or orange flesh. As honeydews ripen, they turn from green to creamy white to yellow. Avoid green ones, but a creamy white one will (unlike other melons) ripen on your counter in a few days. A perfectly ripe honeydew will yield just a bit to pressure at the blossom end and have a sticky, velvety rind. Substitutes: cantaloupe OR Cranshaw melon

the end opposite the vine end should be slightly soft
