if you're at a restarunt and you dont like the dish they served you...?!

Question: If you're at a restarunt and you dont like the dish they served you...?
can you tell them its not good - send it back and order a different dish without paying the extra?

Answers:

If something is wrong with it, you would have a better success rate - like too much salt, over cooked, too spicy, or if the meat used is less than fresh. Those are things that can't be "fixed". But if you don't care for the dish, you can certainly ask for something else and explain why you don't care for it. You may have to pay for both, but a good restaurant should exchange it for you quickly and only charge you for one. After all, they are aiming to please you and your palette. Funny, when I travel and don't know what to expect, I order spaghetti. It's hard to mess up.

If you order something unfamiliar and don't happen to like, that should be on you, although most better restaurants will exchange it and you will pay for the second meal. If there is actually something wrong with your dish, hair or a bone etc. in your food, or you order fish/meat medium rare and got it well done; most self respecting restaurants would exchange the dish and would charge you only for one dish or give you the dish you ordered or dessert for free. Most places would not want to lose your business. Of course, barring a foreign object in your food, do not expect the restaurant to give you a new dish if you;ve eaten 1/2 of it.

No, you ordered the dish. They can offer to 'fix' it to your liking but they don't have to offer you the opportunity to get another dish and not pay for the first one.

in most cases if you only take a bite or two then yes. but you would have to pay the price of the new dish not the on you first ordered.

you probably could as long as you havent eaten much of that dish or else they may charge you....but it could also depend on the restaurant since it does take time to make meals, and time is money

That's mean. Just leave it half eaten, and leave.

Sure I've done it before.
