Dose anyone have a great recipe for Rattle Snake,Buffalo or Prairie Dog Stew?
I recently went to South Dakota for a vacation; and yeppers I did get to sample some great stews made with the following meats and found them fabulously delicious; but when I asked for the recipes,I was told they were TOP secret. So if some one would be so kind as to send me a few I would appreciated it.

prairie dog stew you'll need--1 small onion-1/2 cup of carrots-1 cup of celery-2 cloves of garlic-1/4 cup dried barley-1 small sweet potato-1 1/2 cups of red potatoes[skins on]-1 cup of your favorite salsa[i make my own]-teaspoon salt-teaspoon pepper[to taste]-1/2 tsp basil-4 cups chicken broth-1/4 cup mesa flour[save till last]!!
chop all the vegis coarsely-set aside
bring the broth to a boil add a 1/4 stick of real butter-barley salt and pepper-put the prairie dog in and cover -simmer till the meat falls off the bone
strip and remove bones add vegis and the rest of the ingredients with 2 additional cups of water-simmer till the sweet potatoes cook all up and start to thicken the stew-add a 1/2 cup water to the mesa flour stir till smooth with no lumps-add to the stew stir in well-reduce heat-cover for 15-20 Min's ...serve with cornbread and pepper cheese...
nice little taste of the south/north-west...start the meal out with a salad mix of wild and baby greens...with cheddar cheese and southwest ranch[[[note]]]you may need 2 dogs for this recipe...its according if you want p.d. or nostalgia...

my own recipe- gotalot-lovetacook
Dice your meat into bite size pieces. Also dice potatoes, tomatoes, celery, onions and carrots. Put into soup pot, add water about an inch over the top of stuff. Add stew seasoning. You can also add red pepper, black pepper, mrs. dash or anything you want to taste.
Bring to a boil. Let simmer about an hour. Best served hot. Good with cornbread or flour biscuits.
Alternative recipe: Boil only meat for 45 min. Add potatoes, tomatoes, celery, carrots, onions. Simmer until vegetables are tender enough to eat.
No, but I'm prairie dogging right now.
Dunno about stew but my friend says snake is awsome roasted when some spices and a bit of wine. I'd have to get the exact mix she used from her.
