Can I reheat Indian food in copper serving dishes?!

Question: Can I reheat Indian food in copper serving dishes?
I'm making an Indian lamb shank dish tonight and want to reheat it tomorrow in a decorative copper serving dish and lid I have...and serve it direct from the oven in the pot. Is this oven safe or is it only for placing the food in afterwards? The handles look oven-friendly.

Answers:

I wouldn't. Copper reacts with some foods and the result could be unfortunate for the diners and perhaps for the serving dish since copper is a poison. Cooking utensils made of copper are lined with tin or stainless steel so there's no reaction between food and copper. The dish can probably take the heat of the oven but it should not be used for heating or storing food. Decorative copper also often has a lacquer coating which should not be removed unless you want to have to polish the dish and that coating might be affected by heat.

why risk it
do it in a microwave oven safe container
