Alfredo if you mean you don't want a tomato based sauce.

Marinara is just another name for sauce.
A marinara is what you use as a tenderiser, flavoursome mixture of something sour, something sweet. Sauce is the juice you have after you have "marinaded".
So, you soak your whatever piece of meat, or veges, in a mixture of stuff.
Then you take the said meat or vege out of the marinade.
Cook each the way you like, and then taste. You can either add small amounts of the marinade, which will be your sauce, to what you have just cooked, keep tasting. Or make up a totally different sauce!

I often saute veggies in EVOO with garlic and basil and serve them over pasta-you can add a sprinkle of cheese if desired. That or pesto-pesto is awesome.

Try adding a bottled tomato pesto, to your recipe with garlic and parsley, finish with a little lemon

I use ranch or horseradish on everything. Marinara has too many carbs.
