Question: Question for chinese people. my mom told me that when people eat rice and immediately go running, the rice?
will drop in a hole somewhere in the intestines and cause some inflammation. Then a buddy of mine said his mother told him the exact same thing. Is this logic outdated? My way of thinking is that all food is broken down into rice sized bits, and my mom says food other than rice is okay so I'm lost.

No. Your stomach digests food into a sort of liquidy paste, and you chew your food before it does that. Technically, with the exception of some food, there should be no bits of anything in your intestines.

Wow! That is an ancient superstition.

If you think about it, when you eat rice it kind of gets chewed, but your stomach does most of the grinding so by the time it reaches your intestines you don't have rice grains but a rice paste (like congee... lol).

Nope,it can go into the appendix if thats what you mean. Also not only Chinese people eat rice,Japan,Korea,Vietnam etc.

Your mother is "full of it".

Sorry!

would your mother lie to you?
