MEXICAN REFRIED BEANS
2 lbs. Pinto Beans
2 T. Lard
2 T. Salt
1 t. Chili Powder
1 T. Fresh Cilantro
2 Garlic Cloves
Clean and thoroughly wash pinto beans and place in pot with enough water to cover completely. Bring to a boil, add lard and garlic and cover. Reduce heat and cook for 2 hours. Add salt, chili powder, and cilantro and cook for another one hour or until beans are tender. Remove enough liquid until level is just below beans and mash beans. Heat 2 T. lard in pan and place desired amount of beans in and fry until beans begin to stick to pan.
(To make frijolitos charro, save some of the whole beans and juice before mashing.)

The truth is, they aren't fried at all, let alone twice. (Unless you throw them on a frying pan to heat the up.)

Just boil the beans, drain the water, add spices and mash them up a bit.

OK, this one is very easy, I use do it all the time, it takes only a few minutes and tastes great.

2 cans of pinto beans .
1 medium onion
a branch of cilantro
a branch of parsley
2 tomatoes
a bit of oil ( any, I only use olive oil and it tastes good)

cut the onion in little pieces , fried them until they are soft, add the chopped cilantro and parsley and tomato in little pieces also , let it cook together for 5 minutes.
while the onion mix is cooking, open one can of beans and use the food processor or blender to make a smooth paste, use the same water inside the can.
add the paste to the onion mix together with the can of whole beans, save the water of the second can ( you may needed if the fried beans are too thick
Let it cook together for another 5 minutes , stir constantly and Voila!! the best fried beans under 15 minutes.
you can add some chili pepper depending if you have kids around or not

Actually we take beans and boil them with an entire head of garlic. We add the salt until the very end, otherwise the beans will harden. Then we take the cooked beans and place them in a heated skillet with oil, we use a masher and add more oil as needed. Yes it does calll for a considerable amount of oil, but they are delicious. The other version without oil is also good, it's a matter of taste.

I agree with Máiréad that's the correct way to make fried beans but use about an oz of cooking oil for per half a pound and they will have the same flavor you can also pureed the beans in a blender after boiling them. Then put them in the frying pan. You can also add Monterey Jack Cheese and chopped Jalapenos and if you dont like it too spicey take out the seed on the Jalapenos. Trust me it make a great dish.

You can make the pinto beans yourself or buy them in a can (best is sol pinto bean)
drain half of water from can and fry in a pan or pot.You can add salt.If you like an extra kick add slice jalepenos or fry up some bacon and fry the bean oil and add bacon..and smash with a potatoe smasher...

You can also add cheese once they are done..

I lived in Puebla Mexico for one month last year and was taught how to make their beans. THey use black beans. Buy a bag of dry black beans boil them in water for at least 2 hours until they are soft. In another pot put a little oil about enough to cover the bottom, when that is hot add 3 onion petals and fry until the are black add beans and salt and mash them to desired consistancy they are very good. Also after u get that far if you want to put oil in a skillet and fry them they are really good that way as well. when u heat them up fry them again not microwave.

Easy version - buy a can of them.
