Sorry I don't get your (GMO) - - please define
I am left with Genetically Modified - ? ? O = ? ? - - WHAT

But here - - besides Mother Earth showing favor to a special plant or animal (remember - only the biggest - strongest male was allowed to breed changing the quality of their heard) - - then - humans that gathered their foods and understood that the biggest or most abundant plant was desired and kept for re-planting next year - changing the plants genetics but not species - - starting from prehistoric times - - we know early religious groups - having free time to contemplate Nature began selective cross pollinating and grafting plants - to discover new varieties - color - size - (plum to nectarine - red grapes grafted with white )
they also selectively interbreed animals to produce new breeds - -SO
today science has discovered new methods to extract individual cells from the egg and sperm and combine them to further improve the quality of our food (drought resistance - the ability to grow in alkaline soil - or produce multiple fruits)


MY VIEW - - too much fear of what the individual understands - - ignorance
