Do not store onions in the fridge. They do best in a cool dry place. The fridge makes onions mushy. Use onions within 2 weeks after purchase. Make sure when you buy onions that they are firm and there is no softness to them.
If you want to minimize crying while chopping onions, put them in the freezer for 30 minutes prior to chopping.

They are well kept in the frig, all my childhood here in Ontario my mother kept the yellow cooking onions she used in the crisper, sometimes they can go moldy due to the moisture, I keep mine in a cold closet in my apartment, it is cooler and has a cement wall, hang them in the mesh bag, or put them in a dish with wholes, get a plastic colander from a Dollar store, the keep weeks if kept right, I also buy chopped frozen onions if I do a large volume dish or make tomato sauce or sauce du chili

easily you can keep them for few weeks , make sure keep them aired ( where they can breath) that is why they are put in bags with holes

They usually stay good for 2-3 weeks in the fridge. Once they start to "sprout" at the ends, it's time to use them up before they get moldy.

Until they go mouldy. Even then I eat the centres.

You should keep onions in a dark, cool dry, place. If your fridge fits that description, great.

not to long the way your supposed to store them is in a dark place hanging in a nylon sock seperated by knots
