Should I be using a stainless steel pan for frying?!

Question:

Should I be using a stainless steel pan for frying?

I'm asking because my stainless steel pan stains horribly every time I fry something on it. It doesn't matter if it's eggs, ham, or chicken it just gets stained more and more.

Answers:
Get a good stainless steel pan, at least a 18/10, that has a thick bottom on it. I use Wolfgang Puck SS pans but theres other good ones. Get pan good and hot bfore pouring oil in then fry. A good cleaner is Cameo amuminum & stainless steel cleaner which you can get at WalMart and other stores. Hope this helps.

Stainless steel is healthy for you. As with cast iron, iron is leached into your food when you cook with stainless. Ketchup is high in acid and good for cleaning the stains if they bother you.

isn't it supposed to be "stainless".. lol what a rip off.. anyways nonstick pans are the best... You don't need any oil because nothing sticks to it, and it lasts a long time if you take care of it properly.. Throw out that stainless steel pan; Good Luck =]

you can use a mild acid, like vinegar or lemon juice, to clean your pan.

I prefer well seasoned cast iron for frying.

Stainless steel is good for frying. The heat gets distributed more evenly cooking everything in the pan consistently. The thing with stainless steel is it doesn't have to be over high heat, that's whats causing the pan to stain. Plus there's no nonstick coating in a stainless steel pan so be sure to use plenty of oil or butter when you're frying. To clean the pan ketchup isn't going to cut it. Try heating up lemonade in the pan. When restaurants run out of their special cleaners, lemonade is their substitute, it gets out all stains in cookware.
