Is it true that decaffeinated tea still contains caffeine?!

Question:

Is it true that decaffeinated tea still contains caffeine?

I have been told that there is no such thing as decaffeinated tea; that decaf tea has a calming additive which counteracts caffeine but that the caffeine is still in the tea. Is that true

Answers:
Yes

No. DECAFFEINATED tea has no caffeine because it's decaffeinated, or it is free of caffeine.

no.. that would make no sense. and they can't lie to you on the package and really put caffeine in it.

I know that with coffee, decaf isn't truly decaf (contains like 5% caffeine) because you can't fully decaffeinate coffee beans. I imagine that would be also true with tea leaves.

However, at Starbucks, we have herbal teas that are completely decaf because they contain no tea at all. Just herbally things like licorice root and mint. So I guess it depends on the tea.

decaf is not caffeine free - but has had a large percentage of the caffeine removed by one of a number of methods. There is still a small percenatge of caffeine present. You can decaf you own tea by pouring the water over it, leaving it for a minute and then tipping it off. the second infusion with have about 80% less caffeine.

Yea it does but in very small amounts.
