Answers:
most people who can't cook learned from books, what you need to do is hook up with your dad for a few weekends and ask him to teach you what he knows. you'll learn to cook, he'll get to eat good food, and you'll both enjoy the time together
(especially with Father's Day coming up!)

Allrecipes.com has good ones and you can change the amounts of servings. I have also learned from anyone who is willing to teach. I watch people cook. I recently within the two years that I have been married have learned alot of cooking just by trial and error. I still have tons of work but its getting easier.

The best thing you can do find a cookbook and start experimenting with recipes that sound interesting. If there isn't a cookbook at home, the local library should have some.

I might add that your dad would probably be pleased to teach you how to make some of his favorite recipes over the weekend.

Also try http://allrecipes.com/.
Good luck!

There are a ton of good sites. I like kraftfoods.com. You can even sign up for an annual magazine that is full of recipes . The Food Network is pretty good too.

those are just two sites I go to when I need a different meal. Maybe you shouldn't be so hard on your mother - if she can't cook, then she can't cook. Maybe she just has never tried - go pull up some recipes that are pretty easy for the two of you, and make a list, go to the store, and cook it together. That would be a fun and special thing for the two of you to do together - I am sure she would love the help, and the idea of new things to make.

One of the easiest meals I know is Spaghetti Bolognaise. Check it out on www.foodnetwork.com

Others have recommended the site. It tells you how easy or difficult the recipe is and also has reviews from people who have tried the recipe.

Also try minute steak - fry for about 1 1/2 minutes each side, get a bagged salad from the grocery store and bake a potato in the microwave. Remember to prick the skin with a fork a few times.

Good luck. I'm sure your Dad will be proud of whatever you make for him. Just be prepared for some meals not tasting too great. I certainly ate some crap when I first started, but it's all part of the learning

I use www.recipezaar.com every single day almost. I love all the user-added recipes and pictures. People rate the meals they try, and there are many forums to ask talented chefs questions any minute of the day, should you need answers. You can even search by theme, cuisine and food type. I'm sure you'll be able to find a delicious Italian meal for your dad on this site without any trouble at all!
