Anybody got a recipe for a fajita?!

Question: Anybody got a recipe for a fajita?
I want the real thing. Like the actually thing you put your ingredients on. I tried searching on google but it just comes up with putting ingredients in them. Are they hard to make?? Thanks! x

Looks like you're looking for the recipe to make the actual tortilla to put the toppings in, correct? They're really easy and so much better when they're fresh from your own kitchen!!

Ingredients are:
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons salt
3/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup hot water

Put all the dry ingredients into a bowl. Cut in the shortening and make sure your mix looks "crumbly", if it isn't just add a bit more shortening. Then add the water and mix it all up. I find the easiest way to do this is with a plain table knife.

Once everything is combined, knead it a bit with your hand to get all the scraps off the bowl, add a dash more water if you need to, or dash more flour if it's too wet, then let the dough sit for an hour so in the bowl covered with a cloth. After this, separate into balls, probably about 10 and then roll them out flat on a lightly floured surface, then toss into a skillet (don't have the heat too high) and cook on both sides, this will take about 3 maybe 4 minutes all up.

One more thing, these lovely fresh tortilla's will dry out quickly, so you want to prepare before you cook them. I use a greaseproof paper between each one and put them on a plate until a kitchen towel as I take them off the skillet. I sometimes buy the wholewheat tortilla's from Kroger which are delicious and they store them into a ziplock back with paper between while they're still warm, and that works pretty well too!

1 flank steak
2 large onions, sliced in med. rings
2 large bell peppers, sliced in medium strips
Tortillas, salsa of choice, sour cream if desired (or Mexican Crema Blanca, which we prefer)
Marinade:
1 c. oil, any type
1/2 c. fresh lime juice
1 T. cumin
1/4 c. minced cilantro
2 smashed minced garlic cloves
1 t. salt
1/2 t. pepper
Whisk your marinade together and marinate steak and vegies for 2-24 hours. When you want to serve, grill steak (stovetop or bbq) and vegies; steak will take about 4 mins. per side for mid-rare, more like 5-6 for med/well. set steak aside to settle and cook vegies over medium high heat until crisp-tender. Slice steak thinly against the grain, which for a flank steak means starting your cuts at the short end with your knife at a 45 degree-angle, or the meat will be tough. Serve steak strips and grilled vegies in hot tortillas; top with salsa and sour cream if desired.

fajitas are just grill steak, veggies and topppings generally served on a extremely hot cast iron skillet so it sizzles

you just grill the meat and veggies
get a small cast iron pan or skillet and put it in a oven at 500 degrees for about 30 min
then take the meat and veggies and put it on the skillet and take it to your table, being careful to put it on a very good heat-proof surface or holder.

I wish that my family could afford such luxorious food as fajitas. My family survive on a single grain of rice mixed with 25 ml of water. Several times per day.
