Question: Argentinian Desserts?
I have a project in Spanish about Argentina. I want to bring in a dessert from Argentina. Any ideas? BTW I'm only 13 so nothing to hard to make! Gracias!

Hi I am 14 and last year I made an Argentinian dessert so easy to make here you go and good luck.

ARGENTINIAN BISCUITS


* 100g/4oz butter
* 225g/8oz Sugar
* 1 egg
* 2 egg Yolks
* 1 teasp vanilla extract
* 2 teasp Grated lemon Rind
* 150g/+5oz cornflour
* 50g/2oz plain flour
* 1 teasp baking powder
* 1/4 teasp salt

edit Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 180C, 350F, Gas Mark 4 and well butter 2 baking trays.
2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and Sugar and beat until pale and fluffy.
3. Add the vanilla extract, egg and egg yolks, one at a time, beating well between each addition.
4. In another bowl, mix together the lemon rind, cornstarch, flour, baking powder and salt then add to the egg mixture and beat well to thoroughly combine.
5. Drop small spoonfuls of the mixture onto the prepared baking trays, spacing well apart, then bake for 15 minutes.
6. Cool on wire trays then sandwich the biscuits together with (dulce de leche) Jam milk.

Alfajores



* 250 grams ground almonds
* 300 grams butter
* 225 grams confectioner's sugar
* 700 eggs
* rind of 1 lemon
* vanilla and almond essence
* 1/2 pound of plain flour

edit Directions

1. Mix the butter with the Sugar and essences.
2. Add the eggs one at a time.
3. Add the flour and the almonds and knead lightly.
4. Place dough in the fridge for about 35 min.
5. Flaten dough and then cut into small circles, cookie size
6. Bake for about 20 minutes on greased and floured baking sheets.
7. Take one circle and cover it in jelly, dulce de leche or melted chocolate
8. Then use another circle to close the alfajore. Its like making a sandwich.
9. The moist edges can be covered in shaved coconut.



Wathever you do, Argentine "Dulce de Leche" is essential.

Is the most representative of Argentina.
