You should absolutely tip your caterer, if they do a good job. They expect it and most of their profit comes from your tip. The average tip is about 20% of the total, so tip $20 on every $100. If you feel like that amount is excessive, you didn't budget for that much, or you aren't as satisfied as you'd hoped with what you received, 10% or $10 on $100 is acceptable but not considered "a good tip."
Ask if they include a service charge in the bill. If they do, don't worry about it. If they don't, tip 15%. In either case, if they do a really awesome job, tip another 5%.
