Hi: Here's what I'd do. 1: First - Find a scenic spot, pref. near water. 2. In a cooler or picnic basket pack: Good wine and wine glasses, Italian cheese cut into chunks or slices - Bel Paese is nice. Italian cold cuts, crusty bread, bruschetta, mustard or aioli. Fruit for dessert and Italian cookies - pizzelle maybe? Have a tablecloth and nice plates to put your spread on...eat - feed each other, laugh and have fun! Give her a handmade valentine type card and tell her she is lovely..truly. (oh and don't tell her what you have planned, surprises are sexier!)

Me - was young and crazy once long ago!

I find your question quite interesting. In italian there is no word for picnic. It simply doesn't exist. They refer to eating outside as 'al fresco' or they use the english word picnic. I don't know what this lady means by italian picnic. When people here picnic they eat as if they are at home.....anti pasto, pasta, meat (usually cooked over a wood fire), vegetables (cooked at home), fruit and something sweet. They even put tablecloths on the picnic tables! To me (american) it is a very strange occasion.

There's no such thing as "italian pic nic" or at least I guess it's in the tradition of every country to go with the fiance on a romantic pic nic from time to time...so I guess she's just referring to a common pic nic with italian food...then romance is romance, not italian nor american nor anything...it's worldwide right? :) The location is important, as well as your attitude, and in this case try to cure the details too...I mean, little things like choosing a cute tablecloth and maybe some flowers may seem trivial but I think she'll notice and appreciate...let her rest while you work for her, that's love man :D Ihih Have a good date :P
