Yes, there's a law. You can actually buy it, ILLEGALLY of course, if you know where to look on the Internet. I only know because I heard a radio program about this not too long ago. Apparently there are people out there who LOVE human meat. The meat is purchased mostly from foreign countries, but sometimes from here in the U.S. It was such an awful program to hear because the thought is just so repulsive to me, yet I kept listening because I was fascinated that people actually enjoy eating human flesh and were willing to discuss it.
Now, if I were starving... You naysayers should really think about this before you say "I'd starve first!" We Americans have no idea what it really means to starve. We have such an abundance of food in this country that even the poor and homeless eat fairly well. REAL starvation means you have very little or no caloric intake at all.
Hitler chose to give prisoners only a few hundred calories a day, just enough so they could work. When they got too weak, which happened quickly due to lack of food, they either starved to death or they simply sent the prisoners to the gas chamber. I read a book recently about imprisoned children in Nazi Germany who were asked to draw pictures of what they wished for... many drew pictures of food- ANY food, not necessarily cookies and cakes, but anything at all.
As for REAL starvation, the body will start to digest itself when deprived of food for long periods of time. We use our stored energy (fat & muscle) to feed ourselves. After that, we literally starve to death. When in that state, I believe most people would turn to human meat if there was no other option.
We think about the Donner Party or the soccer team who crashed in the Andes (immortalized in the movie "Alive") as disgusting savages. Well, I disagree. They simply did what was necessary to survive. It would be ridiculous to allow yourself to die when there's a food source available, no matter how unappealing it is.
I dont think anyone would know the answer to that question until they are actually in that situation.
If there isn't a law on eating ourselves and friends... I'd say it's time for a change.
Now if you were stranded on a desert island off the coast of Africa and only you and another man were there... That would be different :)

Well I suppose you have to factor in the alternatives. If the alternative is death- hmm I think I could get around the Morale dilemma there.
