Lid stuck on pot?!


Question:

Lid stuck on pot?

i made some instant rice.
i put the lid on the pot and let it set for 10min.
now i cant get the lid off the pot.
there is no locking mechanism.. this is an inexpensive set.

i can hold the pot upside down. i tried banging it too

heat the pot back up when the pressure inside matches the pressure outside the lid will come right off. the air inside, although hot, has cooled and is creating a vaccuum inside the pot. cooling it is the opposite of what you should do. if you heat it back up you will not have to pry it open.

Let the pot cool... run it under cool water than use a butter knife to break the seal between the pot and the lid. You may need to run the knife around the rim.
I hate when that happens.

As yes, the lid stuck on the pot situation. Vaccum working I suspect. Caused by the change in temp, etc. put pan in freezer then run under hot water. Use a screwdriver to break the seal.

I would first try running hot water over the lid/pot, then cold.

Sounds like "suction". Liquid B'oiled away.
