Would you believe it, I just turned off Rachel Ray who was making an avocado dip. She was using smashed garlic and sour cream, lemons/limes and mixing them together. Now I don't know if she did, but you may want to splash some hot sauce in also. I think you've got it made! Enjoy!

INGREDIENTS
2 avocados
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 ripe tomato, chopped
1 lime, juiced
salt and pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS
Peel and mash avocados in a medium serving bowl. Stir in onion, garlic, tomato, lime juice, salt and pepper. Season with remaining lime juice and salt and pepper to taste. Chill for half an hour to blend flavors.

INGREDIENTS:
2 large ripe avocados, peeled and pits removed
16 ounces sour cream
2 medium tomatoes, chopped
3 green onions, chopped
1 1/2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
a few drops of Tabasco or other hot sauce
PREPARATION:
Cut avocados into pieces; place in a food processor with sour cream, chopped tomatoes, green onion, lime juice, and hot sauce. Cover and process until smooth. Chill thoroughly and serve avocado dip with crackers, crusty bread, or vegetables dippers.

Buy a container of salsa to add. Spicy or mild, your choice

this is a basic recipe, i like to add chopped tomatoes too.

Guacamole

6 ripe avocados
3 limes, juiced
1 medium yellow onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, smashed then minced
2 serrano chiles, cut into rounds
1 big handful fresh cilantro with stems, about 1/2 cup, finely chopped
Extra-virgin olive oil
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Halve and pit the avocados. With a tablespoon, scoop out the flesh into a mixing bowl. Mash the avocados using either a fork or potato masher, leaving them still a bit chunky. Add the remaining ingredients, and fold everything together. Drizzle with a little olive oil, adjust seasoning with salt and pepper and give it 1 final mix with a fork.

Lay a piece of plastic wrap tight on the surface of the guacamole so it doesn't brown and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.

AVOCADO DIP

1 large or 2 small avocados
1 (8 oz.) cream cheese
1/2 c. diced fresh tomato
1/4 c. finely diced onion
1 tbsp. lemon juice

Mash avocado and cream cheese in a bowl and cream until smooth. Add tomatoes and onions and lemon juice, salt to taste. Stir in just as much hot sauce to suit your taste. Serve with chips or crackers.

ZESTY AVOCADO DIP

1 med. ripe avocado
1 c. sour cream
1 (.56 oz.) pkg. green onion dip mix
1 tbsp. lemon juice
Carrot slices, cucumber rounds, broccoli flowerets; red and yellow pepper strips, green beans and radishes

In food processor, blend avocado with sour cream, green onion dip mix and lemon juice until smooth. Transfer to small bowl. Cover tightly with plastic wrap; refrigerate until serving time. Serve dip with prepared vegetables. Makes 4 servings, about 2 cups dip

In the produce section of my Grocery store they sell guacomale packets w/ all the dry ingredients. The only thing you have to add is the mashed avocado. I think in our store the brand is Concord Farms. Just a sk them at your store. it's super easy (takes 1 minute to make) and tastes great.

If you don't have a packet just add little lemon or lime juice, minced onions or onion powder, sour cream, a little salt and minced garlic to the mashed avocados.

3 avocados- pitted
1 jalapeno finely minced
1 small white onion finely minced
Juice of 2 limes
I small container of sour cream ( cream cheese can also be used)
1 clove of garlic
3 tablespoons of finely minced cilantro
Salt & pepper to taste

Mash avocados & sour cream together with lime juice. Until creamy; add in the onion, jalapeno, cilantro, garlic and combine.

Salt & pepper to taste

It is so good …makes a lot of dip and never lasts more than a day at my house.

If you have tamatios ( what they use in salsa verde) handy, puree 1-2 of them and add them to the mix. It is so wonderful, adds a lot of tangy flavor.

Hey! i am a huge avacado fan, and this always works for me. and its super simple.
just take 2 avacados and mash `em up. then just add as much storebought salsa as you would like! its really easy and tastey.
then add parsely to taste.

Everyone posted the stuff I use except adding 1 hard boiled egg... smashed before you add it . It might sound strange but it really puts it over the top !

Easy, no PROBLEM!!!

Ingredients:
Avocados mashed
Crema (or sour cream)
Lime
Cilantro
Cumin
Kosher Salt
Pepper
Red Pepper
Red or Green Onion (chopped)
Tomatoes (diced)

So cooking is all about taste and texture, not to mention MODERATION. So, to start. Mash avocados and add lime juices (getting in pulp is a good thing), you want about a tablespoon for each three avocados. Add 1-2 tablespoons of Crema to your desired consistency. Then add a dash of cumin.

At this point, you have your base, so add kosher salt and cracked pepper to taste. Once it's to your liking, add red pepper, cilantro (the more the better), chopped onions and diced tomatoes.

It will never fail ya!
