The Germans who settled in the South did so before 1776. Either they didn't bring the bratwurst making know how with them or they forgot about it over the centuries. Or maybe it's because they were from southern Germany. In the Midwest your Germans arrive later and brats and metts are still quite popular. When I first arrived in the north where I went to college I was very suspicious of these brat things. I mean it was a brat and it was the wurst, lol. But yes. Over the past couple of decades we Southerners have discovered bratwurst; some of us anyway.
My first brat was in Cincinnati, but the best was in Hamburg, Germany.
Yep. Bratwurst is amazing. :)
In my experience, if it's tasty and unhealthy, you'll always be able to find at least one Southerner who will eat it - and it's usually me!
lol. I lived in Georgia my entire life. And trust me - our "foodies" still love grits and gravy.
In the south of Germany --- of course there is the homeland of the most famous Bratwurst all over the world --- Nürnberger Rostbratwürste oder Thüringer Bratwurst.
ha! I doubt it.
By the way, you have to go to the bratwurst festival in Bucyrus OH. It's a hoot, and is usually at the end of august.
Every now and then I do want a bratwurst and buy some.
When I can find some I buy more than 1 freeze the rest.
It is not quit like the real ones but it is close enough.
i think its a worldwide thing
people eat it in germany (obvisously)
england
all over the US
Canada
etc
Only in the northern portion that borders with the midwest.
We eat it in Alabama and you can't get much more southern than that.
Yep, we do :)
I'm from North Carolina, btw
