why do people eat chinese food on christmas ?!

Question: Why do people eat chinese food on christmas ?
its delicious but why christmas. whats your favorite dorito chip flavour ?

Answers:

You might be thinking of the Jewish "tradition" of eating Chinese food on Christmas. I suspect the tradition started because Chinese restaurants are the only restaurants open on Christmas (because many Chinese people do not celebrate the holiday either).

Having that tradition gives Jews a way to have our own celebration on a holiday where we can potentially feel left out. In fact, many Jews call Christmas "Chinese Food and a Movie Day" because large portions of the Jewish community celebrate in this way.

Jewish woman with tons of "Chinese Food and a Movie Day" experience.

Typically it's the non-Christians who do this, as they do not celebrate Christmas and so do not participate in the giant family meal. It is stereotyped that many Jews eat Chinese food on Christmas. Chinese is the most eaten ethnic cuisine in America, so it's not a stretch that they'll eat it on Christmas as well.

Also, the "Chinese" food that these people eat is not real Chinese food. It's disgusting, gloppy pig slop that has been Americanized to suit American tastes, and resembles NOTHING like actual Chinese food. Most Americans would gag at actual Chinese food.

My favorite Dorito chip flavor is spicy sweet.

I have never eaten chinese food on christmas. Living in an Italian family chinese food on christmas would not replace the seven courses that are usually served. I know some families that sit down to eat at 2 o'clock and are still at the table at 5 o'clock. Christmas is for food and family. Don't like doritos only potato chips.

I am Chinese, so I eat Chinese food every day. China is now an atheist nation, and it has never had very many Christians, so It has never observed Christmas. Chinese restaurants may be the only ones open on Christmas, so some people who want to eat out on Christmas can only find Chinese restaurants open that day.
I like ranch flavored Doritos.

Some people don't have a family or friends to share Christmas with. Almost all restaurants and businesses are closed on that day. With the exception of chinese restaurants. LOL.

I eat Chinese food every day, because I am Chinese. China is atheistic, so we Chinese do not observe Christmas. I do not eat Doritos.

I don't know really -- maybe its "fun" in the sense that you often eat it family style (sharing).
Personally, I've never had Chinese food on Christmas but I always have it on the 4th of July!

I guess people do what they want to do. But I've personally never heard of eating Chinese food on Christmas. I heard of Christmas Eve but not Christmas. And I like the Ranch flavor! :)
