To the Beijing government it was "the return of Hong Kong to the Motherland". For the heir to the British throne, in one of his more candid moments, it was "the Great Chinese Takeaway".

The transfer of sovereignty over Hong Kong from the United Kingdom to the People's Republic of China on a sultry night in 1997 represented the surrender of the last meaningful vestige of Britain's faded colonial power to the emerging economic supremacy of an Asian superpower.

Prince Charles flew out to the Far East accompanied by assorted dignitaries to witness the handover alongside Chris Patten, Britain's last governor of Hong Kong. On the return flight, the Prince took the opportunity of a few spare hours mid-air to write a 3,000-word account of the event, entitled "The Handover of Hong Kong, or The Great Chinese Takeaway"

I have never in my 70 years have ever heard of a connection to South America and the Chinese nations - - ? ?
I am aware the it is possible that the Chinese migrated there - on foot in the very early times
they may have presented boiling their foods ( to cleans and soften the tough fibrous foods)
I don't believe there is much proff
remember 10s of thousands of years ago - preparation (spices) may have have only been an incident - an encounter - to expand the understanding of food preparation
Today the many of thousands of people will die in a disaster and if big enough most all - -
too many do not know how to survive
Sorry I may not understand your question

I was a Boy Scout I got my merit badges
I am re-reading the "Clan of the Cave Bear" and the 5 books that follow
that describe an evoloution of understanding - OF how the events may have been played out
except for the many pages of sex it is a very good read of how their survival was managed
