Quick! another alternative than corn oil for cake?!

Question:

Quick! another alternative than corn oil for cake?

I didn't realize when my dad was frying his chicken that he finished the corn oil. And my cake says vegetable oil, so what's my alternative?

could i use olive oil? extra virgin-olive oil? What?

Answers:
I would avoid strong flavored oils such as olive oil as it will significantly alter the flavor of the cake. But if you like the flavor it will do fine. Softened butter or margarine will work well. Don't use "lite" margarine because their water content is very high. You can omit the oil if you wish and the cake will bake just fine, but the texture will be less soft. If you have one of them; canola, safflower and peanut are suitable substitutes.

Been there - done that.

Extra virgin-olive oil would be the best alternative. Thats what i use.

applesauce can also be used in place of oil
