I don't know if that's typical school lunch or not. But, at least some Chinese students were fed like this.

we drink chinese tea to clear the oils and greasiness.
but its different from every chinese because of where they live, and their traditions/beliefs.
born as a canadian chinese, been eating chinese food for my entire life.
we always eat lightly for lunch, and more than not, I will visit the vendors outside to get small foods (dumplings, roasted sweet potatoes, rou jia mo (it's like a sandwhich)). The noodle places are always open during this time too.
