Indian and Italian???? The mind boggles. I would never visit a restaurant where the owner had such an identity crisis that he/she did not know what type of food he wanted to specialise in. Basically any restaurant which thought it needed to cater for as diverse tastes as Indian and Italian means that they are probably not capable in either, and are hedging their bets.

the dimensions would be hard, and as to interior designs I'd say that depends on what feel you are wanting to put forth.
I had the pleasure of visiting a local indian restaurant that is a little too hidden for my liking (if it goes out of business, I am going to be so mad!!), where the owner also specializes in italian cuisine. He does not have a fusion menu though the feel of this place always makes me so comfortable and wanting to fill up on warm foods. He had a nice earthy tone on the walls with low lighting and alot of tasteful simple arts (the seating arrangement is also really nice, despite that it's not private, the way he's used islands and enclosed portions with small steps it does feel like this, and the noise is low).
I can see the potential however in an italian/indian fusion, so bravo for this and good luck
