What is the difference between a Portorhouse Steak and a T-Bone Steak?!

What is the difference between a Portorhouse Steak and a T-Bone Steak?

They kind of look the same to me in the meat case.

I realize they both have the same T style bone.

There's not a great deal of difference, to be honest. Porterhouse steak tends to come from the rear of the loin and so the tenderloin ( as opposed to strip loin ) side is larger than on a standard T - bone.

Also, Porterhouse steak tends to be cut thicker than T-bone.

A T-bone steak has a bone shaped like a T in the centre

Well it depends on if you are in the UK or USA, but basically, a Porterhouse is any T-bone steak that is at least 1.5 inches thick.
