Healthy eating means the meal should contain all the relevant nutrients that you need but not excessive and does not affect your well being adversely. Chow mein has carb and oil, and depending on what other ingredients, if any, are included, is quite healthy even if it has meat also as it means protein. Steamed rice is carb only, nothing else. So depending on what other food you're eating, both are healthy enough. If you are buying a combo that comes with meat & vegetables already, I would choose steamed rice so that you're not getting extra oil and flavor enhancer.

Healthy how?

Chow mein has some fat, and lots of fiber. It usually has some protein (chicken chow mein, shrimp chow mein), which your body needs.

Steamed rice fills you up and keeps you feeling full longer. It has no fat. It also offers far less nutritionally--no protein, none of the vitamins the veggies in chow mein have.

The rice is lower in calories, and has no fat.

While the chow mein has some veggies in it, it's also cooked in oil so any possible benefit you're getting from them is way overshadowed by the calories in fat you're getting.

I would say Chow mein as it has the vegetables. So apart from the noodles you get nutrients from the vegetables too and lot more if it has chicken etc.

Any health benifit the chow mein would offer is destroyed by the fact its fried in a wok with a lot of oil. just plain noodle vs rice comparison would be even

life

They both have simple carbs and have their fiber removed, but chow mein noodles also come loaded with fat and salt (from the soy sauce, etc).

neither one is really great. but if i had to choose i would say the rice.

chow mein - there is more variety of nutrients in it.

They would be about the same depending upon what you have in them.

My preference would be a Prawn Chow Mien.
