sweet and sour chicken, ginger chicken, general tsos, etc..seems most americans here like the very tasty/tangy stuff

also fried rice/fried wontons...yeah americans like anything fried. that's why we're so fat

anything with a lot of flavor

From authentic Chinese cuisine:
Dumplings (just about any kind), Dim Sum (maybe not chicken feet, but just about anything else), noodles (soup, dry, fried, etc.), whole fried fish, soup (egg drop, wonton, hot & sour), stir fry, mu-shu (chicken, beef, veggie...) Peking duck (but I think any duck dish would be good too)

I bet most Americans would like the slightly sweet pork sausage you get from street vendors, too.

HK also has a lot of Chinese-ified Western food restaurants, too. These dishes would be good to show what Chinese people think American food is like - the dishes are quite different, but still tasty: fried pork chop/chicken over rice or noodles, spaghetti (Chinese spaghetti sauce is different than American) with a steak on top, HK-style steak (marinated then fried in butter - again different from what you get in the US)

Just be aware, Americanized Chinese food is quite different than the food you're used from China/HK. My sister-in-law is from HK and when she moved to the US, went through huge cravings and couldn't find anything near her to satisfy them. The only Chinese places near her only do the sweet&sour chicken stuff that doesn't exist in any shape or form in China, yet is considered "Chinese food" by Americans...

Also, unless you know they're adventurous, avoid anything containing organs, blood, or tentacles. Also avoid anything that's spicy - again unless you know your guests are up for it. And no stinky tofu.

Sesame shrimp was always a big favourite w. my American friends

Dim Sum. my favorite place for Dim Sum is in Kowloon Bay

but you need to feed them Americanized food.
