I can cook amazing food. Everything I've cooked is something I've invented. No one ever taught me to cook, I just saw a cooking show one day and went into the kitchen and it came out amazing, I was 11. I've never once used a recipe except for baking (I can't bake lol).
Is this normal or do I simply have talent?

well to be honest i am the same.
I cant bake to save my life - unless i follow a recipe strictly.
I have friends who can bake anything with any ingredient and it is divine but they cant cook eggs on toast.
i guess you can call it a talent, if your young enough and enjoy cooking you could pursue it as a career.
Hi fellow Chef! lol~ Myself, I "skim" recipes for ideas and watch cooking shows ( I really like Rachael Ray)~But, I never, use a recipe! & My fiancee LOVES my cooking, as well as all they has eaten my "cuisine" lol~I know when food is done, simply by the "smell" & "feel" of it~ I think it is a Gift! or a Talent! As you say! Aren't we lucky!! Bon Appetit~ Ali ...p.s. I use box stuff for baking, except for my Apple Pie, I do that from scratch! YUM!
Definitely talent. Sometimes cooking require some common sense and the ability to suit various foods. Lucky you.
