How is indian yogurt made?!

Question: How is indian yogurt made?
I love indian yogurt so i was wondering how you make it?
i looked it up but all of the recipes said you needed active culture or something
how do you get/make active culture if you don't have any yogurt in the first place?
and how did people first invent yogurt b/c u always need a little yogurt to make more yogurt

Answers:

The first cultures were likely made using wild cultures in the same manner as sour dough bread is made with wild yeasts. However, the bacteria that is needed for yogurt (Lactobacillus delbrueckii) is not likely to work quite as easily as wild yeasts do so for sour dough breads. So, you need a culture to start. You can buy it or find an active cultured yogurt in a store to get things started.
