Answers:
The term Balsamic was used for the first time in the registers of the ducal inventories of the Reggia Estense in Modena in 1747 and the name itself probably was due to the therapeutic use to which it was originally put.

the word balsamic mean relating to,resembling ,containing or yielding balsam.Since balsamic vinegar is made from pure and unfermented juice of grape called the"must",it's resemble red wine even the way they age it in wooden barrels like wine therefore the word balsamic come in use.

The name comes from the belief that it had medicinal properties. A balsam is another name for a tonic.

Traditional balsamic vinegar has been made for over 1000 years in the northern Italian region of Emilia-Romagna, in the provinces of Reggio Emilia and Modena.

The name balsamic comes from balsam and balm which refer to its attributed medicinal properties since it was used to sooth and heal and to protect against the plagues which occurred throughout the middle ages.
