Is it possible to make Baklava out of puff pastry?!
Answers:
I have not tried it myself. But I do remember my mother used to do something similar to what you described. Only she used to make in much smaller sizes, and then she used to prepare sugar sauce and instead of baking she used to fry the pastry and then throw it in the sugar sauce so that it sucks in the sweetness. We used to love it a lot. Now that I remembered I will try it myself and maybe I'll upload it on my website.

It won't be baklava. It will be more like Qatayef but instead of making the "pancakes" you are using puff pastry. It will be delicious. You need to make the syrup and let it cool down so it's room temp when you pour it over the hot pastries. If you pour hot syrup over hot pastry you get soggy pastry. When my sister in law makes Qatayef she rubs them with butter and she turns the broiler in the oven on so the outsides get a nice crisp browned outsides. You could probably just brush the outsides with melted butter to help it get crisp. It would taste good even if you don't do this I'm sure
normal baklava is made out of phyllo pastry, if i am not mistaken.
so if that so, yes you can make baklava out of puff pastry. when folding in fat, you can fold in the nuts and the sugars as well.
i am not sure if it will work, but that's my idea.
I actually like the texture and the taste better using puff pastry, it's lighter with same flavor.
