What is the best way to cook asparagus?!

Question:

What is the best way to cook asparagus?

I'm planning on serving it simply with drizzles of balsamic vinegar and parmesan shavings.

Should i boil, grill or fry?

Answers:
A lovely recipe that always goes down well with my hubby is asparagus wrapped in bacon or parma ham;

It's very simple- you just need fresh thin asparagus and streaky bacon or parma ham, depending on your budgets and diet.

Break off the hard part of the asparagus and wrap 2 or 3 with a long strip of bacon or ham. Put them in an oven casserole , no fat, no oil - nothing .

Cook them in the oven at 180c/gas mark 4 (sorry don't know in F - medium heat) for about 1/2 hour. That's it.
They are lovely with plain white rice, especially as a lot of gravy will come out, use it to pour it over the rice.

boil it, or steam it.

griddled. it works a treat

Iff you have a griddle pan do that it will keep its crispness and have the griddle effect on it.

griddle or steamed,
mmm that sounds delicious, love that dish

Your pref-I find boiled in a veggie bouillion works.

Griddle those babies in a little butter!

I grill asparagus for about 10 mins. Just drizzle a little olive oil over them and add salt and pepper before grilling, it really adds to the flavour. Then just add your parmesan and serve, yum! (not sure about the balsamic!)

I would grill it quickly under hot grill. Have you tried wrapping parma ham around asparagus? piece tin foil, slice of ham, cover with soft cheese, wrap ham around, drizzle with oil and black pepper, cook for 8 mins in hot oven.

I don't really like asparagus but I'll eat it if it's wrapped in bacon and grilled. Lots of pepper!

drizzle with olive oil and season, then BBQ or griddle pan it.

so good.

Griddle it on a hot griddling pan - brush the asparagus with a film of oil, not the pan. mm.

Roast it in the oven with a little olive oil and Balsamic vinegar

Quick roast it. Drizzle with olive oil on a baking sheet (single layer of asparagus) and put into a preheated 475 deg F. oven. Roast for 7-9 minutes. (7min for skinny spears, 9 for fat ones.) You can also toss with seasoning of your choice.

Three ways in which I cook asparagus are:
1. Roasting: Place asparagus in shallow pan. Pour extra virgin olive oil on them. Mix them up so each one is covered with the oil. Place them in an oven at 450 degrees for about 10-12 minutes just until they are fork-tender. Do not overcook. When done, season them. Great flavor. Delicious.

2. Almost always I steam the asparagus just until they are fork-tender. As soon as they are done, place them in a ice-water bath to stop the cooking process. Never overcook them--this keeps the color green.

3. If you choose to boil them, don't overcook. Again test for doneness--fork tender. Again, I would put them in an ice water bath to stop the cooking process.

Enjoy
