I am making a traditional German dinner and cannot decide on a dessert?!

Question: I am making a traditional German dinner and cannot decide on a dessert?
My dinner consists of this:

Beer and Gouda Pretzels
Kohlsuppe-Cabbage Soup
Saurbraten-beef
Zwieback Rolls
Asparagus
Potato Dumplings

My dessert options are a rum cake or a apple crisp.
Any thoughts on the menu are welcome as well!
please help, and thanks a lot! :)

Apfelstrudel mit vanillesosse.

Leave the Asparagus out. Sauerbraten and dumplings are very heavy and would "kill" the delicacy of that vegetable.

I would not go for a cake, I know its tempting but your guest will die of a heart attack if you serve a cake after all that heavy food.
How about something like this:

Apple Crisp is actually American.

If you want to use apples, look up a recipe for German Apple Cake. You'll need a mandolin or the wide-part of a cheese grater to get the apples sliced very thin and uniformly.

Apple Kuchen.

I to feel a heavy dessert is pointless, a nice light gingerbread cake with apple sauce or a mixed fruit compote would be better.

That is a traditional German dinner ? ?hhh
