How do you make a product environmentally friendly?

It can take quite a bot of clever chemistry sometimes, but not always this is what Ive come up with:
1. Minimise packaging, try packaging cakes in sugar paper - biodegradable and edible! cool eh?
2. To make people aware of environmental issues but in food dye the recycling symbol - might look tredy on a white background.
3. Reuse any waste and minimise waste. Reduce transport costs and hense carbon emmisions etc.
Umm dont thinks theres a lot with making a product unless making it on an industrial scale, then you have reduce emmisions from factory, transport etc and also minimise packaging or use biodegradable packaging and thats it I think.
Look at buying locally grown produce. Many supermarkets stock locally grown and made produce, or there are farm shops local to most people. Imported foods have used a whole lot more fuel and energy getting from far away places to your fridge, so that's something to bear in mind.
