Traditional Hindu/Indian dishes?!

Question: Traditional Hindu/Indian dishes?
It's a school project and I can't find a recipe that is pretty simple to make but also is something kids would eat. I would prefer some type of desert, but anything would be helpful! Thanks!

The easiest Indian dessert you can make is Milk (Dood) Peda. And it only takes at most, 20 mins!

I eyeball it, but I use approx:

1 can condensed milk
1 3/4-2 cups dried milk
1 tablespoon clarified butter, room temp (regular butter's fine if you don't want to make clarified butter)
1/4 tsp cardamon powder (optional, I don't generally use it)

Whisk together milk powder, condensed milk and cardamom powder. Add butter and mix well. Microwave this mixture on high for 2-3 mins. Remove, let cool slightly, so that you can handle it with your hands. Grease your hands with a little butter, make small balls of the mixture while its still warm and flatten, like a cookie. After it cools, (it will be the consistency of caramel, sorta) store between wax paper in the fridge.
