I always ask for rum and coke. But lately I've been drinking cranberry and vodka. Now I am getting sick of the taste of cranberry but I don't want to switch back to rum. Does vodka and coke taste as good as rum and coke?

no, vodka and coke does not work as well...try it with orange juice for a screwdriver, or milk for a white russian, or kahlua or coffee liquor for a black russian, some dry gin and a splash of vermuth with an olive, or lemon curl for a martini...theres so many ways to go with vodka...ask your tender for "something special" with vodka...you'll find something good

Odds are most bartenders have heard most everything.
Why don't you try it out and see? The bartender won't mind. People have different tastes, so what tastes good to someone else may not taste good to you.
You can have whatever you want at the bar, you might also like vodka and 7up and/or sprite
Make one for yourself at home and see how it tastes and determine if you like it. If so, order it! Don't worry about what someone else might think is 'weird'. You just might create your "signature" drink! Go for it.

Yes it would be weird. I don't know anyone over 18 years old who drinks vodka and coke. Put a splash of grapefruit or orange juice in with the cranberry to lessen the cranberry taste but still get it's health benefits.
Vodka doesn't really taste of anything so tends to take on the taste of the mixer, to this end anything goes. Vodka & coke is quite a common short in Ireland.

In answer to Marshallnet2, I am a barmaid, am 21 years old and drink vodka and diet coke. It's an extremely popular drink, and to me is lovely as long as it isn't cheap vodka. That tastes nasty and gives you a bad hangover as it isn't distilled properly. Smirnoff or Absolut is good!
I highly recommend bourbon and coke, but the bartender has probably heard it all so I wouldn't hesitate if that's what you really want.
I love vodka!! I think its great with almost everything! I like it with coke but I always ask them to put a splash of grenadine in( the cherry flavored stuff!) That makes a good drink..
Yes, as we usually flinch at the thought of it, BUT, vanilla vodka and coke work perfectly together...
Who cares if the bartender thinks you're weird for ordering this. It's actually called a Mayflower, and while I don't like them, I don't really think twice when someone orders one.
Be a man and just ask for vodka on the rocks. It is the best way.
