Can bottled water go bad?!
Can bottled water go bad?
And can the inside of the plastic water bottle contaminate the water and give us health problems? I was told for women to never use a plastic water bottle over again due to possible cancer causing substances.
Answers:
if you looked on the side of a water bottle .. it has an
expiration date..
yes it can but only because of the air tight bottle. When water sits it begins to grow fungi. Nasty huh??
yeah, there's been an email circulating warning women of the risk of breast cancer from drinking water out of plastic bottles that have gotten warm (in your car, etc.)...i looked it up on the urban myth section of about.com and they say it's a hoax...also, one version of the email says sheryl crow said on "ellen" that this was how she got breast cancer...there is a section on sheryl's website regarding this topic...
Yes bottled water can go bad! The reason for this is whatever small percent of bacteria that was not able to be gotten rid of stays dormant to long after the use by date so it starts to multiply cause tons of bacteria which as you know not so good for you.
There should be an expiration date on the outside of the bottle.
Actually water can contaminate
the bottle with diseases if its in the bottle to long, the bottle will grow mold,And then will grow disease causeing bacteria.
water can grow stagnant and as everyone else said, there should be an expiration date on the bottle
Actually the source of this myth is Sheryl crow in her interview :
Here is a sampling of what Sheryl said her nutritionist Rachel Bellar taught her:
Don't drink water from a bottle that has been sitting in your car. Heated plastic will bleed toxic substances that can be carcinogenic.
Do NOT cook in olive oil at high heat. This too is carcinogenic. It is fine to saute in olive oil but if you are browning or frying, use canola oil.
Spices that are cancer preventative, particularly prostate and colon cancer, are cinnamon and tumeric.
A high omega 6 diet consisting of fish, colorful vegetables, high fiber foods have proven to be cancer preventative. In Asian and Eskimo cultures, the rate of breast cancer is shockingly lower. Whenever you have a choice, go with color -- brown rice instead of white -- sweet potato instead of regular potato.
this is the source :

so obviously she said what the nutrionist told her
this nutritionist is called Rachel Bellar & this is info about her :

from my opinion she is not qualified enough
also the same site that have her info , when talking about breast cancer in the following link has not mentioned any cause related to food except alcohol :

also the follwoing site tells us a very useful info about this myth :
