are samosas supposed to be very heavily seasoned?!

Question: Are samosas supposed to be very heavily seasoned?
i ordered some samosas from my indian resturant and I could not even eat one, they were pretty much just the taste of spice and nothing more, infact i was not even sure what ingredients were inside .

Answers:

No.

They are spiced but you are supposed to taste the ingredients.

I don't like most restaurants, I usually make my own.

Yes it's heavily seasoned compared to some bland Subway staff....But that is the beauty of Indian Food.
There are lots of Dos and Don't of ordering Indian Food. Samosas are not suitable for a meal.....these are afternoon snacks that should be served with a cup of hot Masala Tea.

Samosas should be eaten hot....else the flavors of spices will be stronger

Since you could eat one and don't know what was inside.....let me tell you the whole thing

It's a dip fried vegetable dumpling of Indian origin. It has got an outer shell that is made of wheat flour, inside the stuffing is made with Potato with added green pea, peanut, lots of spices including Coriander seeds, red chilli flakes etc. Once it's stuffed and sealed, it's dip fried in Deshi Ghee or clarified butter that gives it a tempting aroma and taste.

they must not have mixed the potatoes with the spices thoroughly, or they put too much spice in.
They usually have a relatively strong coriander seed flavor, but you should definitely be able to taste the potatoes.

not so heavy you cant taste it, but then that is personal preference, what one man can handle the other cant etc
i like mine very spicy too but that's just my palette its used to it so anything less is boring
hope that makes sense!

althought they should be seasoned well they should not be so spicy you cannot eat them. and they usually have peas and potatoes inside you should have sent them back

Define " heavily "...... but no, not so heavily seasoned that you can't taste anything ... lol
