Geography is key. As the mainland and islands have signficant coast lines, seafood figures predominantly. The rocky topography of Greece also favors sheepherding, etc. In other words, there's not a lot of viable land for grazing cattle. Sources? Uh, you need to do some of your own homework.

I'm not Greek but i do enjoy eating some of the food.
I know that the Greek diet is very healthy because their foood isn't processed its basically fresh whole foods . Every region has certain fruits and veggies that grow well in there region so basically they lots of olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, fresh goats milk , goat meat, olive oil, and seafood.
Greeks are very family orientated people and love enjoy there fruits of labor with family and friends.
I dunno if this helps, i have some greek friends and noticed that they're very much like my culture.
good luck with your project
