Vegetarian Question .....?!

Question:

Vegetarian Question .....?

Could someone please explain to me why some vegetarians still eat fish ??? after all the fish still has to be killed in order for you to eat it .... is it double standards or another reason, after all I do not think that pulling something out of the water with a hook or net and then letting it flap about all over the place gasping for breath is very humane either.
By the way I am not a Vegi .... just wanted to know.

Answers:
Not all vegetarians are trying to "save the animals" some of them just dont care for the taste or texture of meat. They choose not to eat what they dont like, just like you and i choose not to eat what we dont like - I'm not trying to save the onions, just think they are gross. My best friend is a veg but her kids eat meat, she chooses not to eat it cuz she doesn't like it not for some great cause... its that simple.

Good question, I'd like to know too.

Because there are different types of vegetarians, so it depends on the person.

My father considers himself vegetarian, but he still eats turkey, chicken and fish.

I consider myself vegetarian too, but I don't eat any type of meat at all.

No expert here. I think though that maybe the vegans just don't like RED meat or animals. Fish are different.

Also, I am with you onthe fishing part. I can't stand to see anything suffer, however, I eat it all, fish, pork and beef, lamb etc...

I'm not a vegi but i think i know why.
semi-vegetarian's eat only white meat but i don't know why most vegetarian's eat fish.
Hope i helped you with yur question even if it is a little bit.

maybe they still like the taste of fish?
meat can taste animally..especially pork and lamb so maybe fish is fine.
Also maybe they view the way fish are killed as not as barbaric a say killing chickens or cows?

It depends.

Some vegetarians are so, because they don't like the taste of meat. But they may like fish. Some just don't eat red meat (I don't consider this true vegetarianism though.)

Most vegetarians who don't eat meat because of moral reasons will not eat fish.

To the person above me, a vegan doesn't eat any animal, or eat or use animal products. A vegetarian just doesn't eat meat.

Maddie. Its some vegetarians that eat fish. Not most.

accroding to vegetarians they dont eat animales cause they dont want to kill it .. its a soul etc .. no life taken .. etc

but they dont seem to notice that plants are living organisms as well .. they proven to have intellgence, they breath, eat, drink, reproduce and even catch cold !!

so comeone people am not against vegetarians but think !

VEGETARIANS DO NOT EAT FISH!

PESCATARIANS EAT FISH!

(I am a pescatarian btw)

Vegans dont eat any form of animal product. (thats NO animal product whatsoever including things like honey)

Vegetarians dont eat direct animal meat - so will eat anything you dont need to kill the animal to make

and Pescetarians dont eat meat but eat fish and dairy products.

I am pescetarian and dont eat animals because i dont know how they are raised and killed (it is not just the killing it is how they are reaared as well) i also lost a lot of weight after becoming vegetarian and generally feel healthier.

I still eat fish because i dont buy my own food and it makes it difficult to find meals for the whole family to eat otherwise, i also have difficulty with my joints and the oils in fish assist with this without me having to take as many supplements.

People have diferent reasons for being vegetarian some just dont like the taste of meat.

There is also the difference that most fish are wild before they are caught whereas farm animals are sometimes raised in terrible conditions.

PEOPLE THAT DONT EAT RED MEAT ARE NOT SEMI VEGETARIANS OR ANY TYPE OF VEGETARIAN FOR THAT MATTER! THEY JUST DONT EAT RED MEAT! ANYONE WHO EATS AN ANIMAL THAT WAS ONCE ALIVE IS NOT A VEGETARIAN! read above for people who eat fish

Also with the PLANT ARGUMENT find a plant that has emotions and screams when i kill it then come back to us

They are not truly vegetarian. They are just people who don't eat meat.
The taking of any life is cruel and unnecessary.
I have encountered other "Vegetarians" who eat just fish, or just chicken, seems bizarre to me!

well i dont really know...
but by vegetarian question do u mean a question for vegetarians?

Morally, I think this is a difficult one to answer, as it would be based upon the assumption that fish do no suffer, which would be odd, given that they are also farmed and killed. However, I think that a veg/fish diet has many health benefits. One issue is the levels of EPA and DHA (Omega 3 fats).

In an Omega 3 vegetarian source like linseed, only between 3 and 10% (Holford 2004) of the fat will be converted to EPA and DHA, whereas in carnivorous fish there is a ready converted supply. However, despite this, a totally vegetarian diet can be rich in these fats (vegans who eat seeds and nuts have twice as much as average Americans). On the other hand, a diet high in fish is likely to be higher even than that (three times more than the average).

These fats are associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease.

wel if sum1 eats fish thn technically they rnt a vegetarian they r a non-meat eater
I agree with you but of corse animal crueltly isnt the onli reason 2 not eat meat

They're just using the term vegetarian for convenience sake-they are not a vegetarian in any way, shape or form if they eat fish.

Some people make exceptions for fish because they are not factory farmed, and are still able to live their natural lives until they're killed.

Fair enough if that's someone's belief system but they're not vegetarians!
