Is chipotle chili powder the same thing as chipotle chili pepper?!


Question: Is chipotle chili powder the same thing as chipotle chili pepper?
I am cooking a recipe that calls for chipotle chili powder but all I could find at the store was chipotle chili pepper. Are they the same thing or do I need to go store hopping late at night?

If it's ground up, it's the same thing. Maybe they just labeled it chipotle chili pepper, If you bought it in a can with adobo, it's not the same.

Yes it is! But it's in a different form, so if you think you'll affect the consistency or texture of your recipe, I'd say to grind it up using a mortar/pestle or something like that.

Chilipowder has a zing to it compared to pepper which has a burn when you taste it. I'm not sure if Chipotle makes a difference or not, but I will suggest you try both and taste the difference.
