What to do with my Asian friend?!

Question: What to do with my Asian friend?
So my friend is comming over for dinner tomorrow night and I am very excited!! But there is one problem that the thing is that she is Asian and I do not know what to serve. My usual special is chicken salad which is very delicious and a crowd pleaser but I am worried that she will not like this recipe so I looked up a new recipe for an Asian chicken salad do you think this will be better. But here is the other thing is that I don't know what to call it because I don't want to insult her. Should I call it an Asian chicken salad but what if she tells me it is not really Asian, or should I just call it a chicken salad even though it is not truly a chicken salad. Or the other option that I have is that I could just scrap the whole chicken idea altogether and make a last minute trip to the supermarket and get some fresh ocean fishes that are sure to impress and satisfy her hunger. So should I take a risk and try this new Asian chicken salad recipe or should I just go with the safe bet and serve up some ocean fishes? Please let me know if you have any good recipes to go with this dinner, I'm kind of freaking out because I have to spend all day cooking and instead of getting a good night's sleep I am sitting up stressing out about what to make...I am not looking forward to tomorrow anymore, sigh.

Cooking for an Asian really is tricky. However it seems that you do not have much to work with.

Chicken salad is always a good default except if you're trying to please an Asian you'll have to remember to include two things, mandarin oranges (canned, preferably Dole or any brand found in an Asian supermarket from a southeast asian country) and pretzel sticks (not really, but those fried noodle things at salad bars) Any Asian dish cannot be without Mandarin oranges and Chowmein noodles, it would be the equivalent of an American salad without the croutons (and we wouldn't want that would we?) Only once have those been added can it be truly considered the salad of my people (i'm Chinese btw)

As for fresh ocean fishes Fuga (aka pufferfish) would be preferable but you'd have to be a licensed chef to prepare it, or you can a licensed chef to do it for you ^^ ohh remember to always take the last one out of the water, ensuring its freshness

I hope this helps solve your Asian cuisine woes!

Cheers :)

Try not to please any Asians with those "Asian styled" foods. Most of those dishes were created by non-asians to please non-asians. Chances are, those dishes won't have an authentic Asian taste. Even if the taste is authentic, Asians could probably make the dish better than you do. Just serve your usual crowd pleaser chicken salad. Let her experience your "regular" diets. Be at home and make her feel at home too. :)

Either go for the chicken salad or the fish.....BUT I would rather have the fish as it is more filling and delicious than salad(No offense) serve the fish with a nice rice dish and some nice veggies. and perhaps a nice glass of wine or sake.

Wow, if I have a friend like you who cares so much about what I'm going to eat, I would be so happy!

It's the thought that counts and I don't really care about what I'm eating (has to be edible at least).

By the way, I'm Chinese.

I would go with the ocean fishes. Ocean fishes are an excellent way to impress your friends, because they are so hard to catch and prepare, and also because they're a crowd-pleaser.

Experiences with ocean fishes.

now, how i like to be your friend.you are super.your friend will definitely love anything you prepare for her. come on relax and prepare food that you're good at. i'm sure your friend will appreciate it.

asian will love ur respie ... u can add more spices ..bec asian likes spice
u can Biryani (spicy chicken rice)
yougat curry
kabab
salad of beans

and some sweet after meal like pudding... rice powder sweet (kheer)

I never knew that being Asian was a problem. Stop setting limits on your friend. Asian eat many kinds of foods. Asian food has many different flavors.

I think it's really great how you want to cook something your friend likes. I really think you should cook something you know that is delicious, regardless of whether it is Asian or not. Personally, I find it a bit uncomfortable when someone tries to be 'like' me and cooks something in the style of what I usually eat. [Btw, I'm Asian] Anyway, I'd get a little bored if I would go over to someone else's place to eat something I usually eat. I'd probably be a little disappointed as well, maybe because I would look forward to eating something different, something special. Anyway, good luck and have fun!

Aww :) It's okay!
Just chill & relax. :D
Although good food plays an important role in a good night, so does good company & good conversation :) .
I'm pretty sure she'll be okay with whatever you serve! :D It's really up to you .
Don't worry to much about it :)
If you do try the new Asian chicken salad, do tell her like, "I got this recipe over the Internet and it looked pretty interesting. Sorry if it's bad, it's my first time trying it. What do you think ? :) "

or something idk. :D hahaha. the last bit might have been some bad advice, idk. up to you :)
Whatever you think & whatever you want to serve :)

I'm Malaysian-Chinese, I'm up to eat anything! :D As long as it is... edible.. o.O

:P Hahaha, dont worry too much about it :) !
Hope you have a great night ! :)
