Am i allergic to alcohol?!

Question:

Am i allergic to alcohol?

Any time I drink an alcoholic beverage, by the first half of the drink my body starts to ache and I get a pain that travels all over. Sometimes I can have many drinks before I have that feeling, but I always get it. Once I get it i stop drinking and just sit there until it goes away and then i can continue. Does anyone have an explaination or does anyone experience the same thing?

Answers:
Only when drinking $5 reds. :P

If you think you might be allergic you might want to consult your doctor. What you're describing does sound like an allergic reaction though, unfortunately.

of course you are allergic

Maybe

That is so odd. but i once had that feeling after drinking a cooler. coolers give me a belly ach .that sucks . but never with the hard stuff or beer.

You can be allergic to the grain in the yeast. You body can not take to drinking. Alot of people love green stuff, and it makes me feel like I'm going to die. So why can't booze do similar things for people? But sadly drinking makes me feel amazing but then I get bad hangovers everytime.

Alcohol lacks a component to make it a substance to be allergic to, so it's medically impossible for you to be allergic to alcohol.

However - what are you drinking? Are you drinking the same thing every time or a similar thing every time? You might be reacting to a mixer - like sour mix in a margarita, or tonic water, or something like that.

Maybe contact a doctor? I have many friends who are allergic to alcohol, some turn red with half a glass of beer and that's it, others get red and start itching all over, which is worse... it does happen! But you might not react to all alcohols in the same way, and many products, even alcoholid drinks, are nowadays so full of chemicals that those actually might provoke an allergic reaction! Beer is full of formaldehyde which I don't support well, white wines may contain sulfur and artificial sugars, red wines colourants, liquors colourants, artificial sugars and flavours...

sounds like you may be allergic to it...it is usually not the alcohol itself but something that is in it such as barley, wheat, hops etc

Insufficient information to determine if that is an actual allergic reaction or not...but it doesn't sound like the symptoms of alcohol allergy (which does exist). Google "alcohol allergy" and you can read up on it.

It is clear that something (unusual) DOES happen to you (the body ache). I think your body is telling you not to drink alcohol.

Take some B1 or B Complex next time it happens (or even before drinking) and see if there is a positive difference.

what r u drinking? beer, wine, mixers? alcohol is not what ur having the reaction to its whatever ur drinking with the alcohol!!!

First of all, it is not impossible to be allergic to alcoholic drinks. And your symptoms look like allergy

I have a red wine allergy, (wine allergy in general is not uncommon for that matter) that my chin feels like being stung by a thousand needles but it's only with cheap red wine ;-)

Or it could be the yeast in beer and other similar drinks.

Best thing to do is to go to a doctor or allergy clinic and get tested...

Good luck!

sounds like you shouldn't be drinking!!!!
