What type of rolling pin do you use?!

Question:

What type of rolling pin do you use?

I have read all about rolling pins. As of right now I have one of the cheapy wood ones that has the spring like thing in the middle. I really don't like it. It doesn't seem to uniformly roll out anything.
I also recently acquired my grandmother's pie crust recipie that we had thought was gone. I would love to get it perfect. I have read some like the one I am using. Others like the wood ones that roll all in one piece. Others like metal... I even read some people use a piece of plumbing pipe!
Please tell me what you recommend and why. I just know I don't like the one I have. It doesn't do me well with the piecrusts or with sugar cookie cutouts!

Answers:
I prefer French rolling pins because 1.) their slight taper is comfortable when rolling 2.) they do not have any internal components or handles, so cleanup is much much easier 3.) they are slender and easy to store.

I use a silicone-covered French rolling pin which keeps dough from sticking and is even a nice color that matches my kitchen.

I have a marble rolling pin that means the whole to me. Mom
bought it for me shortly before she died suddenly. I love it
for pie crust, homemade noodles it rolls out the dough to
however thickness you desire with less effort than a light one.
I would never use anything but a marble one. Years of baking
and cooking for scratch.

I don't do that stuff anymore
But 40 years ago I had a marble (stone) rolling pin until I dropped it and it broke.
Now I buy the roll-up pie crusts at the store.

my mum used a milk bottle when I was very small
I have had a glass pyrex one, a plastic one which could be filled with water but my favorite one is a wooden one it will roll one large piece thats the one I use now

i am 74 years old and i find abottle washed and filled with cold water is better than all the wooden rolling pins and even though i say it myself my pastry is some of the best.

Both my son and I have marble rolling pins. I wanted a good quality one that was going to last. I don't have much luck with wood stuff, probably because I throw them in the dishwasher, then it cracks and eventually breaks. I wash the marble one by hand, so I don't have to worry about it. Some people will use glasses, but just use whatever works best for you.
