Milk sugar and egg dessert?!

Question:

Milk sugar and egg dessert?

When i had my wisdom teeth out my ex made me this pudding type thing with the above ingredients. it kind of had the texture of junket and was the only thing i could really eat for two days. it was simply microwaved to cook. Does this ring a bell for any one? do you know the quantities. it migh have an asian background.

Answers:
I think you're talking about egg custard. The ingredients are half a pint of milk, two eggs and one or two dessertspoonfuls of sugar. The eggs need to be really fresh. To make the custard, heat the milk but don't let it boil. Whisk the eggs with the sugar. Pour the hot milk into the basin of eggs, mix thoroughly and pour the mixture back into the saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring all the time, until the mixture is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon, then turn it out into a bowl to cool. You can sprinkle it with grated nutmeg if you like, but that's optional.

The junket-like version is made in the same way, but cooked in the microwave in a covered dish. For this version the freshness of the eggs isn't so vital because they are more thoroughly cooked.

Experience.

Sounds like Angel Delight, but that comes in ready made packets. I think its made of eggs, milk and sugar though.

Creme brulee?

It could be the creme brulee already mentioned or "natilla", a Spanish common dessert. Check on the web for recipes for both.

egg custard

its an egg custard.

sounds like a flan or egg custard.. or maybe she made a simple quiche..

it sounds like egg-custard. you can also eat pudding. i'm sure it wasn't creme brulee, since what you ate probably didn't have a crunchy sugar 'crust' on top. i've had creme caramel from the store (you can make it at home too), which, unlike creme brulee, has a soft layer of caramel on top so you may have had that instead of custard.

your ex sounds like a sweetheart!

2 cups milk -- scalded
3 large eggs -- beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup sugar

Heat oven to 325 degrees.

In a medium saucepan, scald the milk. In a separate bowl, whisk together
the eggs, vanilla and sugar.

Carefully whisk some of the hot milk into the egg mixture, pouring in a
slow steady stream. Pour custard mixture into 4 6 oz. custard cups and
place them in a 8x8 baking pan. Pour 1/2 inch boiling water around the
custard cups. Sprinkle nutmeg on the c ustard, if desired.

Bake in the center of the preheated oven for 35 minutes until set, and
knife inserted into the middle of the custard comes out clean.

Serve warm or chilled.

The answers that say "egg custard" are correct. However, 'caroline w' seems to have the correct recipe. It is better when baked with water in the pan. Nutmeg tops it off.
