Starter: Zarda (yellow coloured sweet rice dish) served with poppadoms, or soji (sweet semolina dish)
Main course: Lamb Biryani (yum yum)
Side dish: tandoori chicken (marinated in Patak`s tandoori sauce)
Salad: Lemon pickle (lemons cut into quarters, add 1 tsp salt and boiled for 30 minutes. Pour some oil into a separate pan, add curry leaves, black mustard seeds, ground green chilli, a pinch of Tumeric powder, salt and Achar Masala. Leave to cool for 15 minutes, add the lemons and sugar to taste)
Dessert: Ras malai (a sweet, milky, nutty dish)

This is how my mum has always done things and now i do 2!

Starters: Samosa, cutlets, pakoras

Entrees: Veg/Chicken Kurma, Butter chicken, Veg/Chicken/Lamb Biriyani, Chicken/Lamb Vindaloo, Chana Masala

South Indian Specialty Entrees: Masala Dosa, Iddli, Plain Dosa, Mysore Masala Dosa, Vada & Sambar, and other Dosa varities

Dessert: Rasamali, Gulab Jamun, Kheer, Carrot Halwa

I would start off with pakoras or samosas, fried fritters/ veggies. Then a half chicken tandoori with tikka masala sauce with rice, or for more of stew meal, try saag (spinach) either lamb, chicken, or even paneer (cheese cubes, is really good). I always get raita, cucumber yogurt with it to cool down the heat, if you like your food hot, and a mango lassi to go with the meal, and as a dessert. Yummy!! oh, and either naan (flat bread) or poori (puff bread) to eat with the meal.

Starter Samosa
Main Course Lamb Curry
I like vanilla iced coffee after indian food, but a drink like mango lassi or masala tea would be nice.
There are many sweets for afterwards, but I never eat dessert after indian food.
