Do crumpets HAVE to be round?!

Question: Do crumpets HAVE to be round?
Right, I know it's a little random but I've been pondering on it for ages. It's been bugging me for ages!

You can buy square crumpets as well.

Such as these on the link below.

They do not have to be round. However, if you try to make them other shapes without using something to keep them in that shape, they will naturally tend to round for the same reason that a drop of water is round. Because they are not perfectly fluid, if you make a non-round shape the crumpets won't become perfectly round, but if you want star-shaped crumpets like in my source, you need to use special tins.

No, they can be square if you want to make them square.
As long as you use crumpet dough, it's a crumpet.
Sorta like "a rose by any other name".

It probably doesn't matter what shape they're in.

No ive had them in triangles and squares
