In making a hot dog, is this correct?!

Question: In making a hot dog, is this correct?
First, put mayonnaise on one side of the bun. Then spread it around, kind of like if you were trowelling concrete, just fill all the holes in the bun. Then add mustard to the same side, and spread it into the mayo so it gets kind of creamy-yellowish looking. Then put catsup on the other side, and spread it around on that side. Then add relish on that side and mix it with the catsup. Then you put the hot dog in the middle of the two sides and lift the two sides up simultaneously to surround the little doggie. Is this the correct method or am I doing something wrong?

Answers:

That's completely wrong. Take a soft bun (preferably steamed). Lay the dog into the bun. Squirt a line of yellow mustard down the top of the dog. Nestle in a line of chopped onions down one side, and relish down the other. Tuck in some sliced tomatoes. Top with a spear of cucumber (or lightly-pickled pickle, if you must). Sprinkle some celery salt over all and chow down. An optional addition is a small sport pepper, but it's not necessary.

Have been eating Chicago-style hotdogs for almost a half century...

My husband puts mayo on his hot dog, but why not put the mayo on thinly on both sides, then the ketchup, then the mustard, then the relish...don't forget the chopped onions and banana hot peppers

mayo on a hot dog ? never tried it . you can put any thing on your hot dog
I like chili cheese and onion on mine

Yuck..sorry but ketchup and mayo do not belong on a hot dog

Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong!!!!!!!!!!!
The best way:
Put mustard on the bun. Some prefer to squirt it into the crevice of the bun some prefer to spread it all over the inside or on one side-that's all personal preference. next put your sausage in the bun. You want the mustard and dog to be in contact with each other. Now put your cole slaw on top of the dog. At this point if you want onions add chopped onions and then top it all off with chili.

A variant of this is to put the chili on top of the sausage, add onions and top it off with slaw. I prefer the chilli on top because it holds the slaw down so it won't fall off.

Another acceptable way to prepare a hot dog: begin by putting mustard on the bun as described above. If you like horse radish add some now- grated horse radish, not that horse radish flavored mayonnaise goop.Slide the sausage in. Add grilled or fresh onion if desired. Top off with as much saurkraut as you can keep on top.

Use of catsup on a hot dog is extremely suspicious behavior and it is a sin to put mayonnaise on a hot dog. That is just not done.
